Happy Spring!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and pray over me and the students mentioned in this update! I have always felt abundantly supported by each of you; it is hard to express the full extent of my gratitude!

One of my favorite parts of the week is Friday mornings because I get to co-lead a Bible study that we call "Wrestle." In this time, we read 1-2 chapters of the book of Acts and invite students to wrestle deeply with the text, rather than doing a cursory, surface-level reading.

Throughout the school year, I have seen students grow in curiosity and engagement with scripture, asking both "what did this mean for the original audience?" and "what are the implications for us as disciples today?" Here are some pictures from the group that comes each week:

I feel so thrilled about the girls I am getting to invest in one-on-one this semester. Here are a few of them:

With the student pictured above, we typically just meet the two of us, but her boyfriend was interested in learning more about Jesus too! It was so special to have both of them there, each with relatively little Bible knowledge and on the fence about faith generally, taking thorough notes and really engaging with scripture!

Chinwe (pictured above) and Bernadette (below) are both such a joy! Both naturally reserved, I have seen them each grow in connecting with God through honest prayer and opening up their heart to real, spiritual friendships with other girls in the ministry. It is only their freshman year and I am excited to see how God grows and develops them further throughout the rest of their time here at UTA!
Some special moments:

On their own initiative, 4 students planned a time to gather a group to make bags filled with letters, food, water, and other supplies for people without homes here in Arlington. They did it on one of the colder weeks this month and passed it out. They all contributed supplies and gave out over 30 bags! I love seeing these students step up in creative ways to serve our community!

Another group of students initiated praying for people on campus!

Leadership development - a room full of mostly freshmen who are hungry to go out and make & mature disciples. This was the group that came to be equipped and trained on how to be outward-focused with their peers on campus!

Every semester, we do a campus-wide event called Pizza Theology where students gather for 5 hours on a Sunday evening to dig deeper into a certain topic. This semester, we covered the topic "How to Think Like a Christian" led by our directors Brandon Worsham and Garrett Davis. Here is the link if you are interested in listening to those lectures:

Thank you guys for reading! Love you lots!

Veronica
