Our Women's Small group! |
Hello friends & family!!
Thank you guys for taking the time to read this! I feel so encouraged by the steadfast love, support, and prayers that you guys give me!
In this monthly update, I wanted to spotlight one of the girls I have the privilege of getting time with and investing in:
This is Amy!
What a delight it has been to get to know Amy! When we first started getting to know each other, she was a bit quiet and closed off. As the weeks went on, she took a chance on opening up to me: she was getting baptized at her church soon, expressed fears and hesitations surrounding it. With the life she was living, was change really possible? She wrestled deeply with "What does God really think of me?"
I love that Amy has transformed into someone who is walking in the light by regularly confessing and she is learning to trust in the sufficiency of the grace of God! She is quick to share what she is currently struggling with and open to hearing truth. I see her actively evaluating the current negative influences in her life and considering what it means to embrace positive, life-giving people.
While I am SO grateful she has chosen to let me into her life, my prayer for Amy is that she would bravely step into Christian community and be as open-hearted with other believers as she is with me. As of now, I am her only connection point to FOCUS. Would you join me in praying for her to make real, long-lasting friendships with her peers who are also striving to follow Jesus?
Spring Break:
Interrupting the hustle and bustle of the typical week on campus, spring break brought some much needed rest and refreshment!
Kazayet and I took a 3-day trip with two other FOCUS campus missionaries, Joey & Becca, to Arizona! To our surprise, a blizzard blew in the day after we arrived, making for some unforgettably biting hikes up snowy mountains! As you can see in the picture below, the snow came up past my knee!
I am grateful we serve a God who does not treat us as slaves, wringing out more and more productivity from us, but rather, a God who modeled and commanded rest. I tend to lean more on the side of over-working and taking a break can feel unnatural, but I am so thankful for the ways in which God has directed my eyes back to Him & His goodness (rather than my output) through the time in nature and with godly friends.
Thank you guys for reading these updates, for praying for the Dallas College ministry, and for supporting me personally! I am abundantly grateful!
Love, Veronica
