Septmber 2024 - It's Only Been a Month?!

 

Hey everyone!

Thank you for taking the time to check out what has been going on in the Dallas College Richland ministry this past month!

One of my favorite things about campus ministry is that it is fast paced! We meet students week 1, start our small group and one-on-one Bible students week 2, and by the end of the first month of knowing each other, you feel like you have known each other for years!

One of the highlights of this past month for me was getting to host my women's small group at my apartment for a sleepover! 

There was a lot of logistical hurdles we had to cross. 1) None of the girls drive/have a car and I live about 30min from campus. 2) My apartment is only 575sq ft and we needed sleeping accommodations for 10 people...

BUT, if there is a will, there's a way!

Some girls took a bus to the train to an uber, while other girls were driven by the aunt of one of the girls, but everyone was able to make it! 

Some people graciously lent us air mattresses and although all available floor space was covered, we managed to make a sleeping space for everyone!

There was a spontaneous dance party, deep conversations & sharing life stories, board games, and deep belly laugh sessions.

Many of our girls come from very difficult home lives and family backgrounds, so creating a space where they can play, connect, and be known & loved has felt exceptionally meaningful this year.

We have connected with each other so deeply that we keep finding ourselves saying,

"Can you believe that it's only been a month since we met?!"

I cannot wait to see how the relationships we are forming continue to be a space for people to ask questions, explore faith, and deepen their love for God.

Can you guys be praying that the hearts of these girls would be set on fire for God? For several of them, there are a lot of internal barriers preventing them from fully devoting their hearts to Him (Does God love me despite my past? Do I belong here? Is God good even though ___ happened?) Pray that they would have eyes to see God's love for them!
