August 2024 - Back to Campus!
The entire FOCUS staff! |
Hello friends, family, & prayer warriors!
I am immensely grateful for the time you guys take to read these updates and pray for the ministry we are doing on campus. The ministry we do on campus disrupts the campus culture (stick to yourself & don’t engage with others, walk with head down and phone out, keep your headphones in and stay in your lane).
We are interested in creating a new culture on campus - one where the students belong in real friendships, where the darkness in their minds, hearts, or homes is brought into the light and in being fully known, they experience being fully loved.
What we are doing not only disrupts the campus culture, but we are engaging in a very real battle in the spiritual realm. And that is why I am thankful beyond words when I consider you guys - the people who are behind me and my coworkers in prayer - as we step onto the campus. We need your prayers and are so thankful for them!

The students are back on campus for the 2024-25 school year and so are we!
During the first week of school, we spent 16 hours tabling & meeting new students and hosted 8 back to school events - Christian Connect, Black People Meet & Greet, Ethnic Eats & Beats, Mi Gente: Latino Meet & Greet, FOCUS Kickoff, First Gen-Student Party, Paint & Sip, and Field Night. In between and through the events, we met many students who are hungry for friendships!
A Meaningful Moments from this Month:
I met a student who was born and raised in Egypt her whole life and last year moved from Egypt to Dallas to get a college education at Richland College. She is Muslim, as Egypt's demographic is 90% Muslim, but now that she is in such a diverse place, she is curious and eager to learn about other religions, such as Christianity.
Her and I talked for over an hour as I learned more about her life story and the role her faith has played in her life. She attended our first worship service of the school year and said she really enjoyed the experience! I am praying that she is willing to continue to come back!
Prayer Requests
Pray that the students we met throughout the first week of school continue to come back and open their hearts to a relationship with Jesus.
Pray for our student leaders who will begin leading the small group Bible studies on campus next week!
Thank you guys! Much love,
Veronica
